Leadership and Peer Mentoring
To promote positive change within the youth community, we have instituted a Peer Mentoring program. Mentoring encourages practicing social skills while provide support to others, and therefore benefits both the mentor and the mentee. These mentors receive additional training in order to be able to work with children, and have been assigned to different activities such as the youth forum, tutoring, home work assistance, and cultural events. In addition, they are being served as role models, and provide advice and support to those who are facing challenges in their lives
Mentors receive training in the area of: HIV Prevention, homework assistance, cultural competency, Leadership, Social Skills and Self Esteem before starting the program and during the program year. |
Eligibility:
- Good Character
- Ability to work with others
- Young Professional or
- High School students between 18 years old and up. With a GPA average 3.0
