Any section of printed paper that can be affixed to any vertical plane
is known as poster. A wide assortment of posters is available e.g.
sports posters, tennis poster, football poster, racing poster,
gymnastics poster, basketball poster, cricket poster, etc. They are
assembled for educational, advertisement, gratification, legal,
political, etc purposes. Nowadays, they are very widely used by
political parties in political campaigns, by musical bands for their
promotional shows, by actors for the promotion of their plays, by
entrepreneurs for the advertisement of their brands and products, by
medical companies for selling their medicines, etc.
Posters use material like paper, cotton, silk, etc. Posters are used
for films especially to promote them and attract the general audience
to watch them and entertain themselves. In 1870 the first coloured
poster was made with the advancement in printing industry. The poster
culture spread from Europe to the rest of the world in 1890. Mass
production of posters started after it. Posters are the fundamental of
print media. Affirmation posters are very famous in these days; they
motivate the youth to be responsible, develop leadership qualities in
them, fight the odds, stand against violence, fight for peace and
strive for betterment. Sport posters incorporate
variety of posters for games and sport personalities belonging to any
game like tennis, golf, car racing, basketball and so on. Tennis
posters are admired by the youngsters all over the world. In USA every
year around 5 billion tennis stars posters are sold. Lionel Messi and
Christiano Ronaldo are very famous football players and are seen on
Football posters all over the world. Racing is a game of luck and
talent as well. It’s about technique and how one can control
the ride in a marvellous way. Racing posters are sponsored by different
auto industry companies.
Gymnastics is the most tough art and game style showcased all over the
world. Gymnastics posters are the wonderful expression of how gymnasts
can showcase their talent in front of the whole world. Chinese are very
famous for their gymnastics. Gymnastics require a highly flexible body.
Basketball is America’s most famous game with players like
Michael Jordan in it. MJ was one of the most renowned basketball
players; he can be seen on almost all the Basketball posters. As
newspapers, television and radio are one of the most used medias for
the advertisement purposes so are posters; they are cheap, easy to use
and safe.
The paper or fabric used in poster making can be recycled and reused up
to 15 times. Posters are environmental friendly way of publishing and
showcasing things. They have large number of advantages as compared to
disadvantages. One of the major disadvantages of posters is that once
they stick to the wall they are ruined and can’t be used
again for the same purpose however they can be recycled. Scientists
have developed electronic posters which are very widely used in
developed countries like USA, Canada, England, etc. Posters have been
used since the advent of print media and they are still popular as they
were on the day one. |
