The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is a 14 –session parenting skills training program designed to increase resilience and reduce risk factors for substance abuse, depression, violence and aggression, delinquency, and school failure in at risk, 6-17 year old children and their parents. The SFP curriculum includes three courses (Parent Skills Training, Children’s Skills Training and Family Life Skills Training); taught in 14 two-hour sessions. In the first hour, parents and children participate in separate classes, each class led by two co-leaders and family skills training program, where parents and children will participate together. The program is available to all parents living in Elizabeth and the surroundings municipalities who want to raise their children in a positive way.
